We can use this page as a centre for exchanging information about what plants do well in the semi-arid condition of La Manga Club and how to meet other enthusiastic gardeners. When there is enough interest we can spin off this page to form a new site if you wish.
Just a note of background. La Manga Club is divided into a number of Communities. Each owner only has leasehold rights over the site of his villa. the adjoining gardens, unless you are lucky enough to own a private villa with a plot of land, belongs to your community and is tended by them. That could be the reason that there is not an official gardening Club. When owners are on holiday the last thing most will want to do is tend a garden which will then be left when they go home. However, if that was the way everybdy thought La Manga Club would be a very boring place. So obviously there are some keen gardeners in the Club and this article is a call to them. I know that at least in Los Altos there are residents and visiting owners who are very interested in plants and nature generally and they really should get involved.
Putting that to one side we can start with what plants grow in the conditions of La Manga Club with the minimum of water. For this you just have to walk into the countryside of La Manga. There are plenty of Garden centres in La Manga that can help you find the right plants for your garden. The closest of the la Manga garden centres is right ourside the club and is quite reasonable. there are also other la Manga home and garden centres scattered around if you want more.
