There is a well established route to massive cannons above the Mediterranean. You park your car just beyond the West Course club house on the road to Portman and take the signposted footpath. The views over the Med and Portman are spectacular.
The geology of the whole Murcia Region gives many opportunities for exploration on foot. The scenery of Murcia is highly mountainous related to the Penibetica and Subbetica ranges. The Revolcadores massif is in the North of the region.
The mountainous scenery of the region is full of foothills that roll in from the Penibetica and Subbetica ranges that help create the Guadalentin river and Sangonera depressions. The most outstanding part of the area is without doubt the Revolcadores massif, that reaches an altitude of 2,027 metres. The El Caruche, Espuña, La Pila and Ricote sierras are all over 1000 metres high.
