I have experience in recent years of only La Manga Rent a Car and Hertz. La Manga Rent a Car are much more relaxed in the way they deal with you - they don't seem to worry about little scratches. Hertz are the other way. I felt that I really did have to check the car against the manifest before signing for it with Hertz.
On the question of Collision Waiver - this is a very profitable line for car rental companies and Hertz push it hard. - La Manga Rent a Car are more relaxed and leave whether you want it entirely to you. Given that most of us are driving on the 'wrong' side of the road its a difficult call. There is a real liability should you have a crash but then driving around la Manga Club??. A trip to Cartagena and certainly to Alhambra is a very different matter. If you are going to do a lot of driving in your la Manga hire car you should certainly extend your insurance.
