Key Spanish artists are
Renaissance artists included Fernando Gallego, Juan de Flandes. Paintings of this time were highly influenced by religious themes such as Pieta by Luis de Morales. El Greco depicted elongated figures with fantastic themes.
Alonso Berruguette was a Spanish sculptor, painter and architect in the 16th century.
Alonso Cano was a sculptor and painter in the 17th Century
Francisco Salzillo was a sculptor in Murcia in the 1600s
Velazquez was a renowned portrait artist of the 17th Century
Goya is famous Spanish Painter of the 18th Century who was commissioned by three Kings of Spain - Charles III, Charles IV and Ferdinannd IV.
Baroque artists included Francisco Zurbaran painted religious themes and still life
Sorolla was a 19th Century artist in the impressionist school
Romero de Torres was a 19th century portrait artist
Salvador Dali was one of the leading Surrealist artists of the 20th Century
Picasso lived for part of his life in Spain but spent most of it in Paris where he developed Cubism with Braque and died in the early 1970's
Antoni Tapies was famous for abstract art.
Other 20th century major artists included Julio Gonzales, Pablo Gargallo and Pablo Serrano.
There are several art galleries in the La Manga located in the regional capital of Murcia. This facilitates appreciation of la Manga culture perhaps given that the art attractions of la Manga are concentrated in one place.
